Our anniversary was June 29th, but with the business of work and life we couldn’t celebrate on the actual day.  We decided to make up for it with a trip last weekend to the mountains we got married in.  More specifically, we went back to the exact spot we got married in, by Blake’s dad, just a year ago.

If you didn’t already know, Blake and I were married in Sundance, Utah, which is where he was raised.  Our ceremony was held on top of the mountain at Bearclaw Cabin, so everyone rode the chairlift to get there.  So, Blake and I decided to sleep up on the mountain, and in the morning we took some time just the two of us to ride the lift up to Bearclaw.  It was so special to be on the lift together in such a beautiful setting, remembering all the thoughts and feelings we had on our wedding day.  I couldn’t help but think of all of our loved ones who were there with us, and even though I loved having the time alone with Blake a big part of me just kept wishing for them all to be there with us again.

Once we got to the top, we hiked around a bit, reminiscing about what happened on our wedding day.  We had lunch inside the cabin (they are open and serving food in the summers now and we love it!!) and hung out in the sun for a bit.  Then the wind started picking up and some dark clouds rolled in, and once we felt rain drops we hightailed it to the lift to get down before a storm hit.  For some reason, the storminess just made it even better!

We gave away these Mexican blankets to our guests on our wedding day in case it was chilly on the lift.  We lucked out and it was warm and sunny, so the guests just took them home with them from the reception.  We use ours a ton, and I’ve loved seeing our friends and family using theirs!Sundance Resort | palms to pinesSundance Resort | palms to pinesSundance Resort | palms to pinesOur guests were seated in between these two cabins, on the deck.  The wedding party was the last up the lift, and we walked up these steps and down the aisle!Sundance Resort | palms to pines

I feel so lucky to have such beautiful memories in such a beautiful place.  This place will always feel like home to us, because it’s where we began our’s.

Hey Blake, I love you.
