Guys…I’m HOME!  Like, HOME.  Back to my Seattle roots!  And it’s BEAUTIFUL here.  There really isn’t anything better than a sunny day in the Pacific Northwest.  Today happens to be the wedding of two of my favorite people AND my ten year high school reunion.  Where has the time gone?!

This morning I’m sipping on the protein smoothie my Mom always insists on making me (she got the recipe from her trainer, so here ya go!) and looking at pictures from our day on Lake Sammamish yesterday.  Guys, this is my heaven!

Blend:

  • 1 cup milk or almond milk
  • 4 whole raw eggs (she insists you wash the outside with warm soapy water to avoid salmonella)
  • 2 heaping tablespoons plain non fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax seed meal
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup more of mixed frozen berries

Lake Sammamish - The Golden Natives

I can’t tell you how many Saturdays growing up were spent on the lake, on a boat.  We are a boat family, through and through.  When I was a kid, I remember sitting in the driveway on summer nights just waiting for my Dad to get home from work and take us out on the boat before sundown.  Since we are crazy busy today, my Dad took Friday off work and took us out on the lake.  We laid in the sun, wake-surfed, ate, and talked.  I just love being on the lake – the water, the sun, the sounds, and the smells.  It all just feels like HOME.

My friend Sadie is home for the reunion, and she’s always loved coming out on the boat with us.  She impressed us all by getting out there and wake surfing for the first time…8 months pregnant ;).  Her little girl Olive watched very intently, and maybe a little concerned…

Hope your Saturday has a little bit of “home” in it, too. 🙂
