Faux Fur.

There are so many good faux fur statement coats out there right now.  I’ve picked through my very favorites, and you can scroll through them below.  Best part is, faux fur actually keeps you pretty warm ;).  I’ve stayed toasty in this blush-colored jacket from Sanctuary.

Favorite Things Party.

Have you guys ever been to a “favorite things” party?  They are kind of awesome.  My good friend Corrine hosted one last week, and I felt so lucky to be invited!  Basically, you bring three of one of your favorite things, all the same item, and there’s usually a set price range or limit.  It could be anything – your favorite drug store mascara, a book you love, the best pair of soft socks, or a hair product you use.  Then at the party you talk about what you brought and why it’s your favorite, then do a little swap where you go home with three favorite things from three other people.  The best part is that even though you don’t go home with everything, you learn about things your friends love!  For Corrine’s party, I gave two little things together that I use ALL the time in the kitchen – this vanilla bean paste and this strawberry huller.

I use the vanilla bean paste in place of vanilla extract for anything and everything that calls for it, and I swear it makes everything better!  And the little strawberry huller is the easiest way to pull the stems off strawberries without wasting any of the strawberry.  Fun fact – it works for tomato stems, too!  Both of these would make great stocking stuffers.

Girl Power.

Speaking of that party, I have genuinely LOVED hanging out with other girls lately.  (Did you see the post about my crafty girls’ night?)  I had been thinking about that a lot, and then saw this post talking about that very thing, and also lead me to this post, which really resonated with me!  It refers to an article from New York Magazine called, “The Secret To Staying Friends in your 30s”:

“Twenty-something friendships involve long, late nights, all-day walks, and hours-long phone conversations. But having friends in your 30s is functionally impossible. There is no good time to see people, no friend equivalent of the candlelit dinner and rose-strewn canopy bed. To stay friends is to make do with the social equivalent of a taco truck and bathroom quickie. As the opposite of a sensualist, I actually prefer this. There’s something both efficient and exciting about having friends woven into the texture of daily life. It feels almost illicit when we manage to steal time together, like we are cheating on our grown-up lives.”

Let’s hear it for the girls ;).

Pantone Color of the Year.

Pantone announced the color of next year, and it’s “Greenery.”  I love it!

Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.  Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world.

I have to admit I’m going to miss Rose Quartz, but green has always been my favorite color ;).

Family Photo/Matching Boots.

Since a lot of you were asking about the boots/sweater/shirt we are wearing here, I decided to link it in this post to make it easy!  I have to say, the boots I’m wearing here are unbelieveably comfortable.  Like whenever someone compliments me on them I try to make them try them on to see how comfy they are, and they usually freak out about it too ;).  Also, if you’re looking for a present idea for a man in your life, Blake LOVES these boots that I got for him and guys keep asking him where he got them.  I think they’re pretty badass!

La La Land.

It came out today, and I’m so excited to see it!  Blake is doing a Spartan Race tomorrow, so I’m hoping to convince him to go see it after if he’s not too tired…we’ll see ;).

Hope you’re all surviving the month – good luck this weekend with all of your shopping, parties, and weather if you’re having it ;).

xx
